Consignment sale to feature holiday decor, toys, children's holiday clothes

White tells me that they both are avid bargain hunters and always looking for ways to stretch a dollar. White has one son and Gina has three children and a grandchild. Both have been "consignment sale junkies," as she says. White started a sale in 1995 in Virginia Beach and ran it for several years until she moves to North Carolina.

"I have always wanted to get into consignment again but this area seems a bit 'overwhelmed' with children’s consignment sales and I didn’t really see a need to start another one," she tells me.

The two wanted to come up with something new. And they did. The first was Designers Consignors. The second is St. Nick's Attic.

St. Nick's will focus on toys and electronics, along with home decor, outdoor yard decorations and children's holiday clothing. The clothing doesn't necessarily have to have a holiday theme, but it should be anything a child could wear for parties, special services or pictures, for instance. They also will carry other winter gear for kids, such as coats, hats, scarves, mittens, dress shoes and boots.

The sale will accept consignors through Nov. 13. Consignors will earn 65 percent of their sales or 70 percent if they volunteer too.

Admission to shop will be one canned good or one unwrapped new toy or $1 for admission. All donations will go to InterAct of Wake County to help battered women and their children. Dr. Monica Jones also will be on hand passing out information about ovarian cancer.

Public shopping hours are 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., Nov. 18; 9 a.m. to noon, Nov. 19; and 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., Nov. 19 when many items will be half off. (Note that the sale is closed from noon to 1 p.m. on Nov. 19 so they can prepare for the half off sale).
