On this journey to drop a few pounds, I have gotten into a pattern of working hard, eating healthier and seeing the scale go down.

I am in such a groove that I had to actually talk to my new trainer about not losing anymore.

I’ve finally hit my 35 pound goal! After telling my mother the good news, she replied with a resounding “Don’t lose any more weight!”

She said she is afraid that I am going to become “too skinny” and not be healthy. She said that I am small enough.

The problem with losing weight is that you really can’t see your weight loss as much as others can. I still see the size 10 staring at me in the mirror everyday.

There is an addictive element to watching the scale go down, so I guess she is afraid I will just keep going. In her defense, every mini-goal I set for myself was followed by “another 5 pounds to go!”

I don’t want to get so skinny that my head looks too big – like a bobblehead.

So how skinny is too skinny?

  •  If I can see your bones protruding from your body, you are too skinny.
  • If you are an adult who can shop at Gap Kids for your clothes, you are probably too skinny or just very, very petite.
  • If a size 0 is too big for you, you are too skinny.
  • If you haven’t even had chocolate in a month because you are afraid it will make you fat, you are probably too skinny and in a bad mood.
  • If your legs look like toothpicks with sneakers, you are probably too skinny.
  • If you are as thin as LeAnn Rimes or Kate Moss, you are too skinny.

I haven’t reached any of these categories, but if I do, I know my mom will call me on it! What is your definition of too skinny?
