Here's a great fall recipe that uses pumpkin puree. For those feeling industrious, make homemade pumpkin puree with baking pumpkins from the market!

Gingerbread Waffles
1 ½ cups all purpose flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 teaspoon ginger
¼ teaspoon nutmeg
¼ teaspoon salt
2 eggs
1/3 cup brown sugar
½ cup pumpkin puree
½ cup skim milk
¼ cup molasses

¼ cup butter

Directions

Combine dry ingredients. In a separate bowl , beat eggs and sugar until fluffy. Beat in pumpkin, milk, molasses and butter into the egg mixture. Add wet ingredients into dry ingredients and stir just until moistened. Do not over stir. Cook waffles in waffle maker until cooked through.

Oct. 29: Susan Sink of the Tarheel Foodie demonstrates cooking with local fall ingredients. Stop by to learn and taste delicious samples!

Nov 5: Annual Craft Fair at the Market with extended hours from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Enjoy the farmers' market, plus over 35 additional artists and craftspeople offering children's clothing, accessories, jewelry, pottery, holiday gifts, decor and more. Also face painting with LynneSue Fischer
