Solo Mom: Out of the mouths of babes
One of the beautiful things about young kids is they are completely honest. They see nothing wrong with speaking their mind - or maybe that's just my kids, taking after their mother.

My second child was almost named Dunkin, because my daughter told me, when pregnant, that my belly “looked like a giant doughnut.”
I didn’t argue with her, but I did make it a point to not only get back in shape post baby, but make sure she saw me doing it. She knows it takes exercise and a healthy diet, and now she calls me Supermom – not just because I do my best to prioritize my kids AND balance my life, but also “because you’ve got muscles, Mommy!”
I have a Superman T-shirt, which she thinks is pretty neat, but this morning she told me that all single moms should have a Superman shirt. Again, I didn’t argue with her – she’s a smart kid.
My son is barely two, and only just starting to create sentences. His favorite thing to say is “I do that!” which is his version of “Look what I just did.” He will point at anything he is proud of and announce this to whoever will listen. Of course this also means he will rat himself out because he’s somehow proud of himself for throwing his spaghetti at the dog or knocking something off a shelf.
Nonetheless, it’s nice to see him proud of his accomplishments, however messy they might be. Maybe the kids need Superman T-shirts too.
