Lynda Loveland: The wood chipper ate what?

My six-year-old son is my best eater. I’ve talked about him before. He may be my best eater, but about 20 percent of the food ends up on him and around him. He stuffs it in his face and it just comes out everywhere. He eats or tries everything I give him. He likes almost everything, except sautéed spinach. My oldest digs it, especially with a little vinegar.

Anyway, when we were at the beach last week, we ate a lot of seafood as we usually do at the beach. That’s one thing we can all agree on. One night we had steamed clams. I thought my son was going to crawl on the table and get in the bucket with the clams and a little bowl of melted butter! He couldn’t get enough! And the rest of us couldn’t get any. OK, we got a few, but he got the bulk of them. We only had two dozen that night. Caid probably had a little more than a dozen.

The next night, he BEGGED for more clams. Seriously, he begged. The big R (my husband) obliged and bought not two, but three dozen this time. We steamed ‘em and set them in front of my son. Then Randall and I went to dinner (wooohooo date night) while my mom watched the kids. When we got back, we inquired about Caiden’s clam-stravaganza. My mom said he ate them. ALL OF THEM! All three dozen! That’s 36 steamed clams, if my math is correct. And a hot dog to top it off!

The kid’s gonna be bleeding melted butter…

What has your child eaten a bunch of?

Not my child, but me... when I was about 5 I ate at least a pound or more of king crab legs. I LOVED crab. However, evidently a 5 year old is not meant to eat that much crab, and I was SICK as a dog all night long. That is probably the ONLY occasion that I threw up from the time I was a toddler until I was 16. I wouldn't touch crab until I was in college. Now I love it again.

My boys are all grown but I remember those times when I couldnt seem to fill them up! They are still like that and now I have a granddaughter and 2 of my grandsons who are "bottomless pits" at least at my house! My youngest grandson started school this year(they are all in school now - my how time flies!)and he is my hot dog eater! Loves Bright Leaf hot dogs(the red ones). My granddaughter LOVES oodles of noodles and vienna sausages - not necessarily good for her but she does love them. My oldest grandson loves just about anything you can think of. He eats salad and the other two dont. Their fathers tell me that if they fix stuff they wont eat it but they do at my house. Guess its true-Gammy's food really is the best! ;) Just hope your son didnt get sick or anything - let him eat - hes a growing boy!!!lol

My almost 5-yr-old is like that over spaghetti. She loves it! I have even been warming up spaghetti from the night before and she would stand there waiting for it to get ready so she could eat it.

How was he feeling the next morning? Ok I hope...:)

My daughter would eat as many fresh picked strawberries as we could pick! She did not always feel so good the next day, but that never stopped her! She'd wear the red berry juice too....

My 3 year old can't get enough corn on the cob. She doesn't like it if it's not on the cob, I guess it's just more fun to eat it that way. We went to a Labor Day out and she ate 6 ears in a day. She wouldn't eat anything else even desserts!
