Talented musicians, ages 14 to 19, can audition this fall to be part of NCS Youth Sinfonietta, an exclusive North Carolina Symphony chamber orchestra.

Auditions will be held from 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m., Sept. 28, and 9 a.m .to 3 p.m., Oct. 1. Auditions take place at Meymandi Concert Hall at the Progress Energy Center for Performing Arts in downtown Raleigh.

The group is led by the symphony's staff of conductors. Twice a year, Sinfonietta members come together for a week of intensive coaching with symphony musicians and rehearsals with its conductors, including Grant Llewellyn, the symphony's music director. It culminates in a public performance of challenging classical repertoire in Raleigh.

Applicants must be ages 14 to 19; North Carolina residents or students enrolled at a North Carolina school; and be available for rehearsals and performances. Applications must be postmarked or emailed by Sept. 23.
