The time is now to sign up for Durant Nature Park's popular Halloween Trail.

The long-running event features costumed characters performing family-friendly, nature-based skits. When you reach the trail's end, huddle around a campfire for more entertainment. You'll also find arts, crafts and games. A hay ride takes you to and from your car.

Because of the popularity of this event, the city started requiring pre-registration a few years ago. It's set for 6 p.m., 6:45 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Oct. 21 and Oct. 22. Registration ends Oct. 18 for the Friday, Oct. 21, event and on Oct. 19 for the Saturday, Oct. 22, event.

The fee is $7 for adults and children over 3. Kids 3 and under are admitted for free. Be sure to bring a flashlight if you go.

To register, go online to the city's RecLink system. (it's easiest to go to RecLink, click on "Activities" at the bar at the top, do an "advanced search" and then search for programs at Durant Nature Park in October). Your confirmation form or receipt will serve as your ticket.
