Mordecai to hold baking contest for kids, adults

Historic Mordecai Park is looking for the best cakes, pies and cookies. The downtown Raleigh park's annual baking contest is set for 11 a.m. Sept. 17. There are categories for both kids and adults.

And if you don't want to bake, you can eat. All entries will be available for tasting to the general public from noon to 1 p.m. It's free to enter and to sample.
