Just wanted to quickly mention that about a dozen libraries in the Triangle are participating in the WrestleMania Reading Challenge for kids in grades five to twelve.
Kids must read five items, including books, graphic novels or magazines, and complete a related project. Local finalists will move on to regional competitions. They all are eventually competing for the big prize, which is a trip for two to WrestleMania 2012 in Miami and money for their library. Last year's winners included high schooler Brandy Eggleston of Durham!
WrestleMania offers the challenge along with the Young Adult Library Services Association. The goal is to encourage reluctant readers to read more.
