The Umstead sets dates for this year's Tea with Santa

Posted August 16, 2011

It might be August, but it's not too soon to make plans for the holidays - especially if they involve Tea with Santa at The Umstead.

The high-end hotel in Cary will offer six sittings with Santa. The teas include tea, holiday treats and  a story time with the big guy. They'll be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Dec. 3, Dec. 10 and Dec. 17 and 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Dec. 4, Dec. 11 and Dec. 18.

Reservations are required. This can fill up pretty quickly. The cost is $28 per person including tax and service charges (as I said ... high end). Call 919-447-4200 for reservations. This is best for kids ages 10 and under and their families.

My suggestion is to save your money, at least for a few years. At 26 months old, your daughter will have no memory of having tea with Santa. She might even scream and cry about it.

This might be OK for an 8- or 9-year old.

I am very interested to see any comments from people who may have done the Tea with Santa in the past...was it fun and worth the splurge? Or not worth it and we should save our money. Also, what age group would you suggest? My daughter will be 26 months in December, would the even be to old for her? Thank you!
