Boys are from Mars...

The differences between girls and boys are starting to become crystal clear.  My son is now 2 1/2 and I think his testosterone level is rising.

The first inkling of the changeover came outside when he was playing on one of those single sided teeter totters.  You know, the one with the big ball under the seat so the child can bounce up and down.  Campbell bounced on it a few times and moved on to the swings.  Caiden took one look at it and promptly put his whale under the ball.  He proceeded to get on the seat and, gleefully, bounce like mad on top of the whale.  He bounced like that for about 10 minutes, pausing only to re-adjust the whale under the ball for maximum impact.

The second instance of emerging boyness, came around Halloween.   As I came around the corner I noticed him walking with a skeleton to one of the rocking horses.  I thought, hmmm, what kind of havoc does he plan on wreaking now.  He walked right up to the horse and placed the skeleton under one of the rockers. He than proceeded to rock furiously over it.

It goes without mention, how much he likes to throw things and "bam" things.

Even though he can be "all boy", a lot, it amazes me how sweet he is with his baby sister Carys.   When I pick them up from daycare, the first thing he says is "I want to kiss Carys".  He's extremely sweet with her.

And one other note, Caiden will not be going to Gymnastics next go around.  I'll reconsider when he's older.  He's WAY too much work.  Plus, the last time, halfway during the group warm-up, to my horror, I realized I had my shirt on inside out!  I ran to the bathroom with Caiden, where once inside, he loudly asked "Mom, why are you taking off your shirt?"  (The bathroom is one of those open bathrooms that was right next to the warm-up area, of course.)

I have a 5 yr old daughter and 7 yr old son and there is definitely a difference in playdates betw. boys and girls. My daughter is a girly girl, however is sometimes a tomboy (which I love the combo!) to keep up w/her big brother.

I love your stories. What fun pandemonium. Once I went to work w/2 different earrings on- they were very similar, but not the same. Way too funny about the shirt!!

I have 2 boys, ages 7 and 4...the things that go on in this house and in the yard is nothing short of random science experiments all day every day! I am the only girl in the house, so my vote doesn't count for much...esp when Dad gets involved and turns the experiments into fright shows! Enjoy that boy....boys always love their moms! Also, as Caiden gets older, make sure you check his pockets prior to loading the laundry.....earthworms make a mess during the spin cycle! :)

Lynda, You are too FUNNY !!!....You make me LOL at Work all the time...

I have only one child, a 12 year old daughter, but I am very, very close tonmy nephews (ages 13, and the twins are 10). The 4 kids are more like siblings than cousins. I can say without a doubt that boys are definitely different than girls. The boys spend their time being loud and crazy and my daughter spends her time trying to mother them and keep them all in line, which my sister and I are very thankful for. As always I really enjoy and relate to your blogs!

Ah Linda, the best is yet to come!!! 3 grown sons here and a grandma to 4 grandsons - and two are a "matching set"(twins)! My oldest grandson is 4 today and he is a handful! He's got a sweet heart but more energy than I ever WILL have!lol And by the way, not only do they like to tear things up and take things apart but even at 4 they like GIRLS!!! When the now 4 yr old went to Headstart testing they asked general questions like "what are your eyes for?" and his reply - "To go to Walmart and watch the GIRLS!!!" My daughter in law just about died but in the end ALL the teachers wanted him in their class!!! So much fun, so much ENERGY and so much joy! Wouldnt trade them for a housefull of girls but I must admit that my only granddaughter is the apple of MY eye! ;)

You have to be the funniest mom in the whole world!

I have 2 boys and 2 girls...I can relate to your shirt being inside out...and kids can say the darnedest things!

Just wait it gets better as they get older, I ought to know I two grown sons and four grangsons. Oh I am the Dad by the way and yes boys will be boys, even me when I was growning up.

I have 3 boys, 8, 4 1/2, and 2. Even though I have never had a daughter, I've watched how the girls their ages act. Completely different!! My oldest is as mild mannered as they come, and even he has a destructive streak. Even though they fight and pick on each other constantly, no one else need not even think about doing it. Even the 2 year old will lay the law down to older kids if they try to start something with one of his brothers. Really, they are all three sweet (destructive and wild, but sweet none the less) and different in their own ways. And, yes - they love their mama. Final score - Boys 3 Girls 0

My son is almost 34 and he too was all boy at that age. He could put more dents in something than a demolition derby. He now has 2 sons with the oldest being 2 years old - guess what - my grandson is just like his dad. I just laugh and say "Oh the joys of being a grandmother - just to see the payback" Yippee!!!
