Shopping Trip

I was so excited last Sunday that my mother-in-law was coming up to visit for the day. I had visions of a long bubble bath or lounging in bed with a book for a few hours during the afternoon while she played with Reese. When my free moment came I thought first I need to run quickly to the baby store and the grocery store. Now, I've been to the baby store many times before but this was the first time in a while that I had been without Reese or some other circumstance that caused me to hurry. I was blown away by all the cute summer girl clothes. I wandered up and down the aisles collecting darling candy colored outfits that I couldn't wait to see Reese wear. It was so much fun! After a while the doubt started to creep in....she wouldn't be wearing these outfits for at least 3 months...what size would she be then? So...I put back the 9 month outfits and exchanged them for 12 month outfits. Then I started to think...she may still wear nine month outfits because she only grows out of the legs of outfits early, not the sleeves and body. I had some sleeveless dresses and starting thinking maybe she would be more comfortable with short sleeves... Finally I gave up and put it all back! On to the toys. I figured that would be easier. She needed some new distractions. I think I stood in front of a rack of baby toys for 15 minutes inspecting each one. Would this one stimulate her enough? Should I buy a stuffed dinasour for a girl or is that just a boy toy? Would the feet on this one come off after awhile and be a choking hazard?? Finally I just had to walk away. I got some diapers, pack and play sheets and finally picked a rattle and started home. The phone rang... "There's a hungry baby here!" Tripp said. Oh no....I had spent an hour and a half at the baby store and still hadn't made it to the grocery store. Dreams of lounging on the bed with the book flew right out the window. Maybe it would be best to take Reese with me next time!
