Sleep
I've noticed there is a standard set of questions you get from other people when children come into your life. It starts when you are pregnant with endless renditions of "When are you due?" "Is it a boy or girl?" "Do you have a name?". After that it's months of "How much sleep are you getting?" Of course when the baby is first born nobody is getting much sleep. However, once you get to about 3 months you start to work for bragging rights with other parents. "My baby is sleeping 6 hours a night!" "Well...mine is sleeping 9 hours!". And then you hear the more unpleasant ones..."My baby is STILL waking up at night twice at 7 months old". We thought we were some of the lucky ones with Reese. At three and a half months she starting dropping her 3am feeding. She now goes to bed around 9pm and gets up about 8am. We'd been bragging about that until we went to our 4 month check up. The doctor said we had some big changes to make. One trick to our night time peace is that Reese is still sleeping in the bassinet beside the bed. When she wakes up at night we can easily give her a pacifier and she goes right back to sleep. So...orders are to start weaning off the pacifier and put her in her crib in her room. I just love having her in the room with me so I haven't done either one. I guess I'm already having separation anxiety. Oh wait...that's not supposed to happen until around 9 months...oh and that's supposed to be her, not me!!!
