The Museum of Life and Science in Durham will be the region's only host site for the Global Cardboard Challenge.

The week-long event, which runs Oct. 1 to Oct. 5, involves guests using cardboard, Makedo connectors and other building supplies to build their own custom additions to a community built "Colossal Cardboard Imagination Machine." It all ends on Saturday, Oct. 5, with a reveal of the final room-size creation for the public to see and add on to.

This sounds like the ultimate homemade fort. For details, check the museum's website.
Also, don't forget: The museum's popular Pumpkin Patch Express starts up Oct. 4. Tickets are still available for some slots.
