Lexington man accused of stealing $8,500 in hunting gear

LEXINGTON, N.C. — Authorities in Davidson County say a Lexington man is charged with stealing $8,500 worth of hunting gear, including at least five rifles and several handguns.
Local media outlets report 42-year-old Harry Grimes Spainhour is charged with breaking and entering, larceny, larceny of firearms and attempted larceny of a motor vehicle in connection with the mid-September incident.
According to the sheriff's office, tools, rifles, shotguns, ammunition, cameras, assorted deer calls, weed trimmers, binoculars and a safe were among the items stolen from the home.
Spainhour was placed in the Davidson County Jail under a $50,000 bond. His court date is set for Dec. 16. It's not known if he has an attorney.
