Lenoir County murder suspect caught in Fayetteville

A 29-year-old man wanted for murder in Lenoir County was arrested Friday evening in Fayetteville, according to police.

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — A 29-year-old man wanted for murder in Lenoir County was arrested Friday evening in Fayetteville, according to police. 

Detectives said William Ontrell Cannon was arrested at a Motel 6 on Cedar Creek Road just after 6 p.m. Cannon was wanted for first-degree murder in the death of Duane Bright Jr., who was killed on July 18 at a home on South Wooten Street in La Grange.

According to police, Cannon and his bother Demico Cannon, were quickly identified as suspects in the case. Demico Cannon was arrested on July 18 in LaGrange.

Both men were being held at the Lenoir County Sheriff's Office Detention Center under no bond. 

"This arrest brings our second suspect into custody, but it is not the end of the investigation," said Sheriff Chris Hills. 

This investigation is ongoing.
