Lejeune sailor killed in Afghanistan

— A North Carolina-based sailor was killed Saturday in Afghanistan, the Defense Department said Sunday.

Hospitalman Eric D. Warren, of Shawnee, Okla., was fatally wounded by an improvised explosive device in Helmand province.

He was assigned to 1st Battalion, 8th Marine Regiment, Regimental Combat Team 6, 1st Marine Division, I Marine Expeditionary Force at Camp Lejeune.

    peace and prayers to his family. they have just received the most painful news and have begun the tremendous journey of carrying on without their son, brother, cousin, etc. it is a journey that knows no end. i know...have been on mine since 1994. hate there is another Gold Star Family.

    This is a fellow Corpsman lost so many Marines would depend on during battle to care for them if injured -- we keep them in the fight. As a corpsman we'd also fight to keep our marines alive even if that means engaging the enemy ourselves. For a group if men in this job that have won 22 Medals of Honor in their existence, one would think that the press would know their role and get it right. Its pretty correct now after writing in over the weekend.
