Lejeune Marine killed in Afghanistan

— A Camp Lejeune Marine was killed Saturday in Afghanistan, the Department of Defense announced Monday.

Sgt. Daniel J. Patron, 26, of Canton, Ohio, died while conducting combat operations in Helmand province, officials said.

Patron was assigned to 8th Engineer Support Battalion, 2nd Marine Logistics Group, II Marine Expeditionary Force.

    prayers go out to the family of this Marine. Of an ex wife of an 8th ESB Marine who is currently serving over seas my heart goes out to all his fellow Marines with him.

    whyall - "while visiting in Wisconsin, I found out that all flags are lowered to half mast when a military member from there dies. All states should do that. And although, this man was from Ohio, he still lived here in NC."

    I agree, for their homes of record.

    For their duty states, however, it might belittle their death, because states with large bases would have their flags lowered nearly every day because large bases often lose someone every day.

    Sad!

    i think its about time to send all of our troops home..they have been over there long enough now. & it seems like every time we turn around we are loosing one. may god be with his family.
