Lejeune Marine killed in Afghanistan

— A Camp Lejeune Marine died in Afghanistan Monday while on combat operations, officials said Tuesday.

Cpl. William J. Cooper, 22, of Eupora, Miss., a member of Weapons Company of the 1st Battalion, 6th Marine Regiment, 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit, 2nd Marine Expeditionary Force, was conducting combat operations in Helmand Province when he was killed, officials said.

Cooper joined the Marine Corps in December 2004.

    Rest in Peace dear hero. I pray for the family and friends as well as our country. So sad to lose another hero, but thank God they were willing to make the ultimate sacrifice for us.
