Lejeune Marine, Bragg soldier killed in Afghanistan

A Fort Bragg soldier died Wednesday and a Camp Lejeune Marine died Thursday in Afghanistan, the Department of Defense announced Friday.

CAMP LEJEUNE, N.C. — A Fort Bragg soldier died Wednesday and a Camp Lejeune Marine died Thursday in Afghanistan, the Department of Defense announced Friday.

Army Sgt. 1st Class Calvin B. Harrison, 31, of San Antonio, Texas, was killed in Uruzgan province after insurgents attacked his unit with small-arms fire, officials said.

Harrison was assigned to 2nd Battalion, 7th Special Forces Group (Airborne).

Marine Lance Cpl. Timothy M. Jackson, 22, of Corbin, Ky., was killed while conducting combat operations in Helmand province, officials said.

Jackson was assigned to 2nd Battalion, 9th Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force.
