For Lego lovers (and their parents and loved ones who are constantly stepping on those tiny bricks), we have two events that might appeal to them in the new year.
In Chapel Hill, Morehead Planetarium and Science Center's LEGO-palooza is 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., Feb. 4, and 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., Feb. 5. The event, now in its 14th year, is free and features a variety of "awe-inspiring, never-before-seen displays" created by members of the North Carolina LEGO Users Group. Organizers recommend this one for ages 6 and up.
BrickUniverse, a Lego fan convention held here for the past couple of years, will be April 8 and April 9 at the Raleigh Convention Center. The event includes all kinds of hands-on activities, including building zones, a brick market, professional Lego artists, displays (including one of the USS Missouri) and much more. Tickets are $15.
