Legislative meddling in courts, retired justices warn, will 'harm,' 'hurt' N.C.

Four retired N.C. Supreme Court justices, a Republican and three Democrats, have sent a letter to members of the General Assembly warning that two bills (House Bill 239 "Reduce Court of Appeals to 12" and Senate Bill 617 "Eliminate Emergency Recall Judges"), if enacted, will "seriously harm our judicial system, cause unneeded delay, and will hurt the people of our state, The letter was signed by former Chief Justices Burley Mitchell, James G.
