SANFORD, N.C. — A 33-year-old Lee County woman was charged early Friday after she allegedly shot a man inside a home during a dispute over a cellphone.

Cheryl Lynn Pizza, of 4446 Steel Bridge Road, Sanford, is charged with attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury and discharging a weapon into an occupied property causing bodily injury.

Investigators say Pizza shot a bedroom door knob at about 12:30 a.m., striking Glenn Peter Seeler in the stomach. Seeler was taken to UNC Hospitals for treatment, authorities said. His condition was unknown.

Pizza told deputies that she and Seeler got into a dispute over text messages and that Seeler took the phone into a bedroom and shut the door.
