— A 33-year-old Lee County woman was charged early Friday after she allegedly shot a man inside a home during a dispute over a cellphone.

Cheryl Lynn Pizza, of 4446 Steel Bridge Road, Sanford, is charged with attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury and discharging a weapon into an occupied property causing bodily injury.

Investigators say Pizza shot a bedroom door knob at about 12:30 a.m., striking Glenn Peter Seeler in the stomach. Seeler was taken to UNC Hospitals for treatment, authorities said. His condition was unknown.

Pizza told deputies that she and Seeler got into a dispute over text messages and that Seeler took the phone into a bedroom and shut the door.

Pizza was being held Friday with no bond at the Lee County jail.

So, Seeler was likely sending text messages to another woman. She wanted to see those and tried to get through the door. It sounds like him getting hit was not intended, but a result of her negligence fueled by anger over an affair.

    Just guessing...

Once again, a sad result of having a gun in the household, which presumably was for 'protection', turns out to cause grief instead. Tempers and guns don't mix.....but I don't think that's a question on the permit application.
