— The board of directors of the Lee County Department of Social Services decided not to take disciplinary action against a manager who sent an email with an image of a noose on it.

Employees complained after DSS Director Brenda Potts sent a message bearing an inside joke that included an image of a person hanging from a tree.

County Manager John Crumpton said he didn't find the image racist. The board agreed.

pamelaworley1969....I am entitled to my opinion just as you are. I do no recall saying I found it funny, however what I said was i see the humerous side of it. I am pretty sure there is a difference but since "i am not in my right mind" I could very well be wrong.
AND I assume you have never made a typographical error? I am sure if i cared, or had time to look, I would find an error in your posts somewhere.

Wow, really? Racist? Anyone who claims this is racist wants to be offended. They are looking HARD everywhere they can to be offended. The most racist people in this country are the ones that cry "racist" all the time. Sheesh. Agree with Packy too. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to see that you just insulted the whole south. Check yourself fool! If that isn't the pot calling the kettle, uhhhh... iron. (Careful now! don't want to make that a racist cliche.)

Only in the south would this NOT be considered racist. It is what it is............... It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure this one out............ She should have known better, but then again.....NC" lisapeters

Leave then, Lisa. Believe me, we're no happier to have you here than you are to BE here. Don't let the door hit ya where the good lord split ya, shug.

Two wrongs don't make a right! A tacky, disgruntled employee that must not think much of their job, co-workers, department, agency, and what it does! Apologies were made! So how has work been every day since this got blown out of proportion? What's next for you? Quitting over emotional distress? Another avenue to cause discord over a job that you should have been relieved from a long time ago & were given a 2nd, 3rd chance? Why do some people create havoc over their own unhappiness? The co-worker that others hate to see come thru the door each day because if they're not creating tension, they're testing the limit of what they can get away with! I wonder if a history check was done on this person's email. What's good for the goose, is good for the gander!

Act like a caring member of society and there will be nothing to talk or mock about. Until that time just deal with it!!!!!!!!!!!! Become part of the solution!! Not another part of the problem!!

I guess if society hadn't treated those members of society with such disrespect for such a long period of time then they might be able to not just "act" caring but actually care about other members of society...oh well, those that choose to ingnore/revise/rewrite history will always see things as if they developed over night for no apparent reason.

lisapeters......... if you're so concerned about the way things are done in the "south", LEAVE!!

  • pamelaworley1969 Mar 29, 2011

I see no race in this picture. So....to the people that do see it as racist...just becuase a black person is who you see when you look at the picture does not mean it is what comes to everyone else's mind. Maybe you are racist.

hmmm a department of social services worker who for one can't spell and for two finds ignorance funny. as i said in a previous post it is not even about a racial thing, lets set that aside and look at it as I said and that it shows hatred in general and if someone has time to send out stuff such as that obviously someone is not doing their job and its no wonder so many kids are being abused and being killed. Who in their right mind would find a picture of anyone hanging from a tree funny regardless of race?
