Two NC men drown in Myrtle Beach

— Two men from southeastern North Carolina died Thursday in separate drowning incidents in Myrtle Beach, S.C., Horry County officials confirmed. 

Richard Butler, 57, of Laurinburg was pulled from the water at 72nd Avenue North in Myrtle Beach about 1:30 p.m. Officials said he would undergo an autopsy.

Mark Baucom, a 50-year-old from Polkton, drowned near 15th Avenue South in North Myrtle Beach. 

No other information about the incidents were released.

    yesterday the lifeguards had a "knee deep only" policy. People are ignoring them and berating them on the beach. Knee deep.

    I'm fairly certain that WRAL is getting the report out as soon as they can. I don't think they are ignoring parts of the story, they may not have received that information when posting the initial report.

    WRAL just seems to ignore other parts of this story. The guy is from my hometown and reports were that officials weren't calling it a drowning because he had a heart attack while swimming...

    4 drownings on the NC-SC coast so far.
    Two at Sunset Beach
    One at Ocean Isle
    and now..this one at Myrtle Beach.
    This is very sad and very scary.
    Why not close the beaches when the rip current is this bad?
