The Laurie Berkner Band is coming to Raleigh!
Since 1997, Berkner has been entertaining kids and families with songs like "Rocketship Run," "We Are the Dinosaurs," and "Five Days Old." Her 2010 "The Best of the Laurie Berkner Band" has been a consistent top seller on children's music charts.
Berkner, a former preschool teacher and indie rocker, started making children's music from her living room and is widely considered a pioneer in the "kindie" music genre (that's independent kids music).
She was the first artist to star in music videos on Nick Jr. and was regularly featured on Jack's Big Music Show. These days, she's starring in Sing It, Laurie! on Sprout and also appears on the channel's Sunny Side Up Show.
This show is going to be fun for preschoolers and young grade schoolers!
Berkner and her band will perform at 11 a.m., Feb. 28, in Duke Energy Center for Performing Arts' Meymandi Concert Hall in downtown Raleigh. Tickets go on sale Nov. 3. I'll have more ticket information as we go forward! I'd say this would make a great Christmas gift for some kids out there!
