Latest Scotty McCreery video showcases OBX

Posted July 11, 2014

— "American Idol" winner and Garner native Scotty McCreery may be the star of his latest music video, which was released Friday, but the real scene-stealer is the Outer Banks.

McCreery filmed the video for “Feelin’ It,” a pop-tinged summer anthem, in Nags Head. In the 3.5-minute clip posted on YouTube, the singer and his friends cruise down N.C. Highway 12 and romp through locations including the Bodie Island Lighthouse, Dune Burger and Jeanette’s Pier.

The Outer Banks Visitors Bureau confirmed McCreery and his 30-member production crew were there shooting the video a few weeks ago, and the agency provided logistics support.

“The star tells us he and his family have enjoyed vacationing here on the OBX all his life, and it felt like a perfect fit for bringing his ode to summer to life on screen,” Lee Nettles, executive director of the visitors bureau, said in a statement.

It already is. "Feelin' It" is the fourth song on the McCreery CD, "See You Tonight" from 2013. Regardless whether anyone considers him pop or country, Scotty can sing. As a devoted George Strait / Kenney Chesney fan, McCreery shows flashes of both voices and no doubt, he will only get better with time.

In an otherwise upside down state, at least we have Scotty McCreery.

It's hard to call all these new songs on country radio actual "country". Most today sound like overproduced pop, but they are catchy. If someone's going to make money off of it, it may as well be a local boy. At least he has genuine skill, unlike many of the bro-country "artists" putting out country songs.
