Dr D - thank you for the heads up on the ground beef. I just clarified by adding /lb. That would have been a great deal! lol

Nstut - so sorry the coupons were gone. But you are getting a great deal at Kroger. :-)

  • Dr D Aug 26, 2015

I did a double-take on the price for the ground chuck, until I realized it must be $3.99 per pound, rather than $3.99 for the 3 pound package.

  • nstutt Aug 26, 2015

Faye, I would have done the deal at FL if I got those coupons from the Silk website like you did. I went to thier site twice yesterday and both times, it said no coupons were available.

losltp - wow! You have been super productive! I have never thought to can meat. Good luck on the recuperation. I hope you are back up to full speed soon!

  • losltp Aug 26, 2015

Sorry - I was joking about returning the meat to Food Lion !
I am already canning some of it and vacuum sealing the rest to freeze .
I do plan on stocking up at Kroger - I bought several chuck roasts at Kroger the other week on sale - I ground most of it ( mixing some with top sirloin also on sale ) so I am well stocked with ground beef . I got a whole Ribeye during one of the sales and had cut into steaks and roasts ( I got one of the recent $25 rebates back for this purchase !).
Last weekend I canned about 12 lbs of chicken breast and froze several more so my freezer and pantry are looking well stocked !
Now DH will have no trouble fixing good meals while I am recuperating .

nstutt - I agree that the milk at Kroger is definitely an easier deal than the Silk deal was at FL. But for those who have kids who REALLY love the Silk Almond milk and ask for it every week, the FL deal was great and well worth the effort! After gift card and .75 coupon from their website - they were only .25 each!

    $3 sale price - .75 coupons from their website = $2.25.

I bought 2 and was able to print out 2 coupons with no problem from their website. I bought 3 other things so I had a total of 5 participating products.

Then I got back $10, which is basically $2.00 off per item, making them .25 each after rebate. Definitely a great deal! Thankfully, my FL printed out the voucher so it was not a laborious process to get the $10 back.

While it is definitely easier to go buy the gallon of milk at Kroger for $1.99, the gallon worth of Silk milk for .50 made my teen very happy! :-)

Dr D - you are correct. I do not return perishables for that same reason as well. They have to toss it if is returned after it left the store because they cannot resell it - which makes sense.

losltp - you may just want to stock up on $3.49 London Broils at Kroger for a few weeks worth so you have them in the freezer. I'm also happy about the pineapple and milk prices!

  • Dr D Aug 26, 2015

I usually do not return perishables because I think grocery stores are required to throw them away if they're returned after they've left the store.

  • losltp Aug 26, 2015

Happy Dance on the pineapple price !
    Another milk deal too !!
DARN I paid too much for a London Broil at Food Lion - maybe I can take it back since I have not frozen it yet .

  • nstutt Aug 26, 2015

I made the right decision to pass on the Silk milk supposed deal at Food Lion last night. I saw it was $3 for the half gallon and if I bought 5 to take advantage of the $10 voucher deal, that would be $2 off each one meaning they would be a dollar each. That is equal to paying $2 for a gallon. I figured why go through all these hoop and loops with the gift card, the calling cust. svc., etc. esp when there wereno coupons at the Silk website when it is possible Kroger will have milk for that same price! Sometimes passing on deals is the best move.
