Know a dinosaur lover? Discover the Dinosaurs is headed to Raleigh

Thought I'd point out this big event that's headed to the N.C. State Fairgrounds later this month.

Discover the Dinosaurs aims to "create a fun environment of learning and activity that explores the wonderment and mystery of our pre-historic past," according to the website.

The event includes an exhibit of 8 to 10 prehistoric scenes complete with special lighting, sounds effects, animatronics and fog. Visitors are encouraged to touch some of the non-moving dinosaurs in the exhibit.

Other attractions include a Dino Dig; Dino Theater; Dino Den, designed for younger kids; some dinosaur-themed rides; inflatables; gem and fossil panning; and more (including dinosaur-themed mini golf).

It's Feb. 22 to Feb. 24 at the fairgrounds in Raleigh. This isn't free. Tickets are $17 for adults; $12 for kids ages 2 to 11 and seniors 65 and up; and free for kids ages one and under. The rides, mini golf, inflatables, gem and fossil mining and face painting each cost another $6, according to the website.

Check the event's Facebook page for feedback from other parents, who have seen the show elsewhere.

I just took my family to this event and we are all very disappointed. The lines are so long, we waited in line for 45 minutes to jump for 4 minutes in a jumpy house. It was too much money and too many people waiting for limited activites. I really wish I had not wasted my money. Stay away from this event, there are so many better things to do in Raleigh.

I'd stay away from this. In addition to some of the comments here, also search "Discover the Dinosaurs reviews". You have been warned.

Too bad it's such a scam. My young kids would have loved something like this. My bad for telling them about it. I hope they forget...cuz we ain't goin'.

The prices are way too high! Looks like they delete the negative comments on FB as quickly as they are posted. One dad said plan to take and extra $75 per child and wait in line a lot! I say, save the money and go to Busch Gardens or Disney.

way too much for kids or adults - particularly when no real example of what you see etc

this thing is so scammy it hurts.

Don't go here.

Go to the Asheville Zoo... where you know you will have room to roam and an educational experience, and for the same price!

The price is definitely a common comment from parents on their Facebook page ...

Wow. At $17pp just to get in, plus $6 per activity - add in 2 or 3 activities and you are close to the cost of admission for a full-sized theme park! This had better be a REALLY good show!

Too expensive! This isn't NYC!

sounds like fun, but $12 for a 2 year old??? I think my family will skip this one (we have a 2 year old)...They should rethink the price on that one.
