Knightdale man charged in Raleigh hit-and-run

A Knightdale man has been charged in connection with a hit-and-run wreck that injured a pedestrian on Poole Road in Raleigh Friday evening.

RALEIGH, N.C. — A Knightdale man has been charged in connection with a hit-and-run wreck that injured a pedestrian on Poole Road in Raleigh Friday evening.

The arrest warrants say that Kelvin Grant Blackwell, 45, swerved around a stopped car and hit a pedestrian who was trying to get a ball from the road around 7:45 p.m. Bellefont left the scene at 2200 Poole Road without helping the victim or leaving his personal information, the warrants say.

Information about the victim was not immediately available.

Blackwell, of 311 Bellefont Court in Knightdale, was charged with felony hit-and-run and driving while impaired. He was being held in the Wake County jail Saturday under a $10,000 bond.

Blackwell was convicted of DWI, reckless driving and three motor vehicle violations in 1999, according to state Department of Correction records. He also has convictions for selling drugs and assault on a woman.
