— Kinston police are asking for the public’s help in identifying three men accused of stealing cash from Walmart.

Police said three men entered the Kinston Walmart about 1:15 p.m. Saturday and went to pay for a purchase. One of the men handed the cashier some bills, then asked to pay with change after the cashier opened the register.

While the cashier counted the change, one of the men reached into the register and took several hundred dollars, police said. The men were seen on security video exiting the store.

Anyone with information is asked to call detectives at 252-939-3190.

"I do have an issue with what you are saying though. This is more a Kinston problem than a Wal-Mart problem."

The same thing happens in the Wal-Marts in Kinston, Rocky Mount, Henderson, Shelby, Fayettville, etc. Kinston is no worse than any other NC town other than Cary and Chapel Hill where crooks can't afford to live. The very design and operation of the stores is an invitation to crime: Large unsecured parking lots with bad video, Senior Citizens working the package check on people going out the doors, overwhelmed loss prevention teams, employees giving "five-finger discounts" to friends and relatives. What other business would have over $2 million dollars in merchandise, large amounts of cash and even a bank branch in some stores and no security guards? No thanks. I'll continue to go to the grocery store for my food, the pharmacy for my meds and Lowes or Home Depot for lawn and garden. I limit giving my money to such a cheap racket as Walmart.

Why not? One of those "strapped People" just may save your life one day.

Yeah, stealing is wrong. For example, the 53 percent that stole land from the Indians!!

I like shopping at Walmart and feel relatively safe but I don't go without carrying my handgun. -- comment

Agreed, I do not feel better knowing that "people of Wal-mart" are strapped.

It's not Walmart, it's society, the product of the liberal agenda- It's the 47%......

WalMart is no bargain. Buying cheap junk that is made in China costs Americans jobs. I will not squander my neighbors' jobs for the sake of a few pennies on a purchase.

THE SILVER LINING: The thieves did not use a gun, didn't threaten anyone, just grabbed the money and ran, leaving fingerprints on the coins.

All Walmarts should have Full time LEO'S at all the stores and at walmarts cost.

"I don't go to Wal-Marts any more. They're like crime magnets and they have little or no security for customers, employees or property." Relic. Sadly, they definitely have the best deals. Of course, that is what draws the very "people of Wal-Mart" we want to avoid. I do have an issue with what you are saying though. This is more a Kinston problem than a Wal-Mart problem.
