He should be ashamed of himself. But I do hope the courts, judge and jury will send this man to prison for a long time. I hope and pray the child will get some serious help and counseling.

If you could have stopped this from happening, but chose not to, you could go to jail, right?

Would anyone here NOT have stopped this from happening?

So, why did it happen?...if there is something out there that could have stopped this? Further, why would anyone continue to honor & respect someone like this? It's almost like we're here all alone and only humans help other humans...hmmm.... :-)

Does this mean that this man's god wanted this to happen or didn't want this to happen, but couldn't/didn't stop it?

A child, by definition, is too immature to make decisions such as whether sexual activity is appropriate; that's why the burden is on the ADULT. Does not matter what the child decides, the ADULT is the one responsible for taking advantage of a child.

How old was the child? They do not tell us but that is a key piece of evidence. There is a huge difference between a 16 and 17 yo's,and those younger. In this day and age 16 and 17 year olds are very street wise and sexually active. What he did was very wrong, but the degree of punishment needs to fit the crime.

There is no penalty harsh enough that the law would allow anyone, that would be fitting for those who hurt children (or the elderly or disabled or animals too).

Still, I pray this guy gets more than a slap on the hand.

Prayers for the child too - a life now forever changed from what it might have been without this.

Now I believe a background check and illegal check would help someOnly if the person had prior arrests or criminal activity. If they have never been caught before, it would do no good

If he was married, I cannot blame the wife is she leave him and divorce him. I also would take any children we have. Hopefuly he did not do and sexual crime of abuse to them. It happens so it would not have been a shock. I wish her and her children the best. They don't need this man in their life corrupting their life.

have a "scarlet letter" for the rest of their lives

They knew right from wrong and certainly not above the law. Do the crime and you will pay behind the bars.
