A 35-year-old Kinston man was arrested Friday and charged with multiple counts of child abuse after authorities say he hurt a 3-year-old girl. 

<b>KINSTON, N.C.</b> — A 35-year-old Kinston man was arrested Friday and charged with multiple counts of child abuse after authorities say he hurt a 3-year-old girl.

Jackie Quoc Chung, of 3209 Chris St., is charged with three counts each of felony child abuse inflicting serious bodily injury, felony assault with bodily injury and assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury.

The girl's mother took her to the hospital in Kinston Tuesday, and the child was later taken to Vidant Medical Center in Greenville to be treated for serious injuries, police said.

Chung was in the Lenoir County jail Monday under a $1.6 million secured bond.
