— A Labrador Retriever in Kinston gave birth to 17 puppies Monday, according to WITN News.

The puppies, which are a mix of yellow, chocolate and black labs, were born to new puppy parents Hudson and Bailey Emory.

Lina Emory, Hudson’s owner, said the world-record litter size for labs is 19. The previous North Carolina record was 16.

While the litter did break the state record, one of the puppies did not survive, so the litter is officially listed as tying the state record.

Bailey's owners, John and Stephanie Wallace, said they plan to keep one of the puppies, but they plan to sell the rest to families they deem fit.

Hope the puppies find happy forever homes. Hope the puppy parents were sterilized after this litter.

And meanwhile puppies are being killed in shelters around the world. Not enough homes for all the dogs and puppies now. There are no shortages of puppies that need a home so why continue to breed? So many Lab rescues out there already. These people are only adding to the problem. Yes, the puppies are cute, BUT so are the ones that are killed on a daily basis!!!!
