Kidzu Children's Museum in Chapel Hill will host the highly acclaimed traveling exhibit Adventures with Clifford The Big Red Dog.

The exhibit, from the Minnesota Children's Museum, will run February to June at the museum's Pop-Up Launch Pad at University Mall.

The exhibit, according to an email sent to Kidzu fans, includes lots of hands-on activities that reinforce "Clifford's Big Ideas." There's a nine-foot high Clifford with a tail to slide down. Kids can help feed the giant red dog by putting bones on a conveyor belt. And there's more, including an exhibit of Clifford creator Norman Bridwell's artwork and stories.

Kidzu is currently at University Square, 123 W. Franklin St., which is set  for redevelopment. Kidzu will move to the Pop-Up Launch Pad at the mall in early 2014. Kidzu leaders eventually plan to move to a permanent home on Wallace Plaza in downtown Chapel Hill.

The Pop-Up Launch Pad also will include another new feature - "The Makery." It's an art studio and maker space where kids can experiment with new materials, techniques and other forms of art and making, according to the email.

The museum's full Launch Pad at University Mall will open in summer 2014 and include a full-size Makery and other new programs and educational initiatives.
