As usual, the massive Kids Exchange consignment sale at the N.C. State Fairgrounds heralds the beginning of children's consignment sale season.

This huge sale featuring thousands and thousands of items is open to the public from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Friday; 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday; and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Sunday. Some items are half off on Sunday.

Consignment sales like the Kids Exchange offer gently used and sometimes new children's clothes, toys, gear and other items at inexpensive prices. We have about 40 in the region, running through October.

These are fantastic opportunities to fill your kids' closets with the clothes and items they'll need for the fall and winter season for much less than you'd pay at a store. Halloween costumes, winter coats and boots and similar items will be some of the popular finds.

For information about the region's other sales, check our database. Some sales are just starting to schedule their fall events. And for more about the Kids Exchange, click here. From now until the end of the season, I'll have a post each week announcing that week's sales, if there are any.

Happy shopping!
