Kid-friendly New Year's Eve celebrations on tap this week

Just a quick reminder of some family-friendly New Year's Eve celebrations this week.

Of course, there's the massive First Night in Raleigh with a children's celebration and early countdown, acorn drop and fireworks. Read my earlier post for details.

And Morehead Planetarium and Science Center in Chapel Hill has some special activities planned on Dec. 31. Click here for more information.

And for those of us who consider early evening hours a little bit too late to be out of the house, you can ring in the Noon Year's Eve at Marbles Kids Museum. The museum is open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Tuesday. Starting at 11:30 a.m., they'll have some special New Year's Eve activities, including bubble wrap "fireworks" and a ball drop at noon. If you're wearing a First Night Raleigh button, you'll get a buy one, get one free museum admission deal (limit 2 free per button), on Dec. 31, and $2 off an IMAX movie from Dec. 31 to Jan. 31.

Happy New Year!
