WILSON, N.C. — Wilson County sheriff's investigators have charged a woman with one count of giving a false police report after, they say, she told them she had been kidnapped.

Authorities said Kimberly Jo Boyette, 33, of 8007 Eunice Court in Kenly, called a friend Thursday afternoon saying that her estranged husband abducted her and that she and her children's lives were in danger.

As deputies searched near Dunn and areas in Wilson and Johnston counties for Boyette, she called them to tell them she was on her way back.

Detectives charged Boyette after they determined she wasn't being truthful about the account, they said.

She was in the Wilson County jail under a $2,500 bond Friday morning.
