— A Kenly man facing a felony charge related to food tampering after being caught on a Web cam performing a sex act in his former colleague's office made his first court appearance Friday morning.

George Harold Jones, 68, of 1209-C Abednego Road, was detained earlier this week on the charge, which is based on General Statutes Section 14-101.11, which prohibits anyone from knowingly distributing any edible substance that contains any other substance that could be damaging to another person's heath.

Paula Parrish, an administrator at Johnston Community College, where Jones used to work, said she installed a Web cam in her office that captured Jones masturbating in her office last December and, afterward, touching various items on her desk, including gum.

Jones, who was a maintenance worker at the college, retired after Parrish filed a complaint with the college. He said Monday that he was embarrassed by his behavior and that he does not know why he did what he did.

"You really don't know why you do things like that in your life," he said. "I'm truly sorry."

Jones was out of jail Friday afternoon on a $5,000 bond.

"what he did was very stupid and the statue he is charged with does not fit his actions in total."

Do you know why? Because it's the only thing police could even drum up to charge him with. Once the issue was pushed into the media, the PD was pressured into charging him with something to avoid looking bad. While he definitely did something WRONG, whether or not he did something ILLEGAL is another story altogether. And before you say it, I don't care what's on the tape - I can guarantee you that no matter what's on there it's not going to be any more illegal than what everyone already knows.

This man needs some help! Don't you think it would be a great idea if the law or the DA's office would suggest a mental evalutation? I've heard he's been going back to the college where she works, why don't the college do something? The college hasn't made any comments as to the safety of her or anyone else at the college regarding his actions.

"Think about how that would make you feel if it were you."
Sounds like stalking to me Ms Hare.

only a woman could entirely relate.
sadly there are some women who wouldn't care.
guess that could also depend on their professional position in life, and if this happened to them, or a close friend.
prevention is the cure and when there is none, things like this can happen.
the master key he was given for his job purposes was not intended for this sort use. he didn't go in her office to change a light bulb.
she locks her door when she goes home. if she wanted it left cracked open she should have that say, not him. she is repsonsible for the property in that office. please give me a reason to understand, "his side" the web cam speaks for itself

"I am just saying that there are two sides to every story and right now the public has only been allowed to see Mrs.Parrish's side and here her comments. Think about how that would make you feel if it were you."

Quote: "Jones, 68, said Parrish reminded him of his late wife and that he does not know why he did what he did".

Maybe this was not comprehended by you Ms Hare. Those co-workers you said who know the real Harold might enlighten this for you, you reckon??

July 2005? Jones had nothing to do with that. The way i understand it is the 2005 is an entirely different ordeal.
Two sides to everything? Not always. Ms Parris has recieved a few e-mails from former students at JCC that seen this story on WRAL. The reading of their experiences was very interesting to say the least.
Maybe change will be brought about and something good will come from it all. A lie can not live. The truth always wins.
Ms Parrish and her family know the kind of man Harold is. It's a shame, it really is. Nothing will ever erase the images

fter she found out that she had no other option but she waited since Dec. 2005”
She set up the web cam on Dec 7th 2007 3:30pm
He was in her office the next day at 10:54am Dec 8th 2007
The 2005 you can learn about in court. It will be covered.
Ms Parrish went to work at JCC. Mr Jones did other things than work. Also, she found out why her office door was being found open. Thats what she wanted to know. He got caught doing what he did in the process.

I have thought about it. I know of Harold, but I know of his brother and family more. I hate it for all of them, what he did was very stupid and the statue he is charged with does not fit his actions in total. I also have my own feelings on the matter and there are a lot of facts you are not aware of and maybe that’s the other side you’re looking and some of it you will never see because evidently you are family so you can’t see what Ms Parrish feels. I have seen the entire web cam, and am old enough to see and comprehend what was going on in it. And let me say again, it is scary and
    1. Is wondering what is happening in his head during those 19 minutes
    2. the other 2 minutes later in the day and he had no business going back on campus and if he still thinks he didn’t do anything wrong to her (as he said) then he can just keep going back to JCC that’s his choice, rite now it is anyhow.
“I would understand Mrs.Parrish more if she would have maybe gone to the media right a

No Body, i am not saying that what Mr.Jones did was right but if the case was closed then why mess with it anymore. I would understand Mrs.Parrish more if she would have maybe gone to the media right after she found out that she had no other option but she waited since Dec. 2005. Why wait so long if it truly destroyed her life. It plainly states that because JCC was a state owned place that they could not ban Mr.Jones from being up there. Did he try to contact Mrs.Parrish the times that he did return to the campus? No! So therefore it sounds to me like he was not in anyway trying to bother her he was just going back up there to see some friends or other co-workers that really know the kind of person Mr.Jones is. The whole thing is very upsetting for everyone involved, I am just saying that there are two sides to every story and right now the public has only been allowed to see Mrs.Parrish's side and here her comments. Think about how that would make you feel if it were you.
