Raleigh, N.C. — All the places on my list are basically off the beaten path. That’s why for me they are hidden gems.
Side Street Café (Raleigh) - Tucked in the Historic Oakwood neighborhood, this cafe offers soups, salads, quiche and sandwiches.
Benelux Café (Raleigh) - This cafe is located in the City Market section of downtown. They have great coffee, and tea. For food, they have pastries, quiche and light and Crispy Brussels-style wafels.
The Oakwood Café (Raleigh) - This Argentinean and Cuban restaurant serves up one of the best breakfasts around. They are located off of Blount Street.
PieBird (Raleigh) - Located in the Oakwood neighborhood, this place specializes in pie - from the sweet to the savory. Try the deep dish shrimp pie!
Los Fogones (Goldsboro) - Just outside of Seymour Johnson Air Force Base, this Peruvian restaurant is my "sleeper pick." Don't miss out on the Rotisserie chicken.
You rarely hear of these restaurants, but you’re guaranteed a good to great meal every time!
