Jury selection begins in shooting death of Raleigh pizza parlor's owner

Jury selection was expected to begin Monday in the trial of a Raleigh man accused of killing the owner of a pizza parlor two years ago.

RALEIGH, N.C. — Jury selection was expected to begin Monday in the trial of a Raleigh man accused of killing the owner of a pizza parlor two years ago.

William Damieon Edwards is charged with first-degree murder in the May 19, 2011, shooting death of Jay Waheed Ammeri at the NY Style Pizza restaurant on Louisburg Road.

Raleigh police have said that the two men knew each other but have not elaborated further on their relationship or a motive for the shooting.

According to a search warrant, Edwards' wife, Tarisa Edwards, worked at Nail USA salon in the same shopping center as Ammeri's pizza shop.
