July 4th dinners and weekly meal plans

Fruit salad

Here's the place to share your meal ideas for the 4th of July or the week, post where you bought the ingredients frugally and even share a recipe if you would like.

If you aren't sure what to have for dinner, take a look at the comments and you may find some inspiration.

What's on your menu for the week?

Here's the menu at Faye's Diner this week:

We had our July 4th family cookout on Sunday evening since both kids will be hanging out with friends at fireworks Monday evening. So before they head out, we are having a simple dinner of leftover grilled smoked turkey hot dogs with sides of roasted sweet potatoes and fruit salad (watermelon, cherries, strawberries and blueberries)

Teriyaki chicken, stir-fry zucchini, mushrooms and onions and veggie egg rolls

BBQ beef sliders on Hawaiian rolls using a London broil in the slow cooker that was on sale a few weeks ago, squash and onions

Cajun shrimp on parmesan butter pasta shells, salad

Homemade mushroom and black olive alfredo pizza again this week because the kiddos requested it yet again for the 3rd week in a row and I still have a couple HT dough balls from the sale last week in the freezer. And the shredded cheese is B2G3F at HT. And I still have free pasta sauce from HT SD. And honestly, it's really tasty! Side of spinach and kale salad with chopped veggies (cukes, 'maters, carrots), croutons, dried cranberries and a balsamic dressing.

Here's the pizza recipe again:

I pre-baked the crust with a bit of olive oil spray and seasoning for 8 minutes before putting on the toppings and baking for another 9 minutes at 400 degrees on my pizza stone.

raesmom1612 - Why yes, yes it does take reservations - especially for cute little baby ziti and sweet Rae. LOL Happy birthday to your dad and enjoy that yummy cake!

jdouglas13 - yep - alfredo sauce. Very easy. Lots of garlic powder, Italian seasoning, fresh basil, mozzarella, parm, mushrooms and black olives. Olive oil and extra garlic on the crust edge.

Happy 4th everyone! Your dinners sounds delicious!

Lol jdouglas!! Between the wegmans cake and the loganberry drink, my car will be full to the brim.....I'm gonna try to squeeze the kids in since I guess I have to bring them back to NC :)

And yea I agree with jdouglas, fireworks can set off memories of war and trigger PTSD in veterans. Doesn't happen to DH but we know a few guys that are like that. Have fun!!!

Raesmom, your menu for today sounds awesome, but then you mentioned Wegman's and I got really excited!! How big is your suitcase? LOL Enjoy! :)

Lindabates, your grilled fish and chips sounds yummy!

Faye, so what makes your alfredo pizza alfredo? Do you use alfredo sauce? You know I'm a huge fan of white pizza, so I was just curious. My version is a layer of ricotta cheese heavily laced with garlic on top of the crust which has a bit of EVOO and lots of oregano and parsley, then topped with mozzarella. We like prosciutto on ours, but you could definitely make it with olives and mushrooms instead.

Nothing fancy here tonight -- leftover mac and tuna salad, a lemony tomato salad on the side with some fresh basil.

Stay safe everyone today, and please keep your pups safely inside too. If you have any veterans in your neighborhood, please be respectful of them. The fireworks you set off could be very disturbing to them.

Does Faye's diner take reservations?? The whole menu sounds amazing!! ;)

Today's menu includes traditional hot dogs and hamburgers on the grill as well as bbq ribs, Spanish rice (it's a Puerto Rican thing......We have Spanish rice at every cookout, birthday party and event we have lol), macaroni salad, potato salad, 1, 2, 3 dip, and chips. For the desserts we have watermelon cake (pinterest recipe), grapes, lemon cream cheese pie (also pinterest inspired), s'more's by the fire pit, and a birthday cake for dad from Wegmans which I have been craving for about a month now!! The only thing I would have liked would have been some baked beans but hey I think I'll be ok without them.

Dinner for the rest of the week......not even sure which family members we are staying with this week so dinner we will just say is TBD.

Happy 4th everyone!!! Have fun and be safe :)
