Julia remnants: Rains and beach, small craft advisories

Posted September 19

— After almost a week spinning at sea, Tropical Storm Julia is no longer a named system but it's still bringing rains and the threat of rip currents to North Carolina.

National Weather Service forecasters warned Monday that swells from the remnants of the storm posed a threat of rip currents from Cape Lookout north along the Outer Banks.

Small craft advisories were also posted along the coast while there was rain elsewhere. A flood advisory was issued by forecasters in Raleigh after more than 2 inches of rain fell in the area.

The National Hurricane Center issued its last advisory on Julia on Sunday night.

But the remnants of the storm were to meander near the state for several days bringing heavy rains from North Carolina to the Northeast.
