Today we are kicking off the 2012 "Joy it Forward" holiday theme with a Harris Teeter $25 gift card giveaway!

Joy it Forward is about paying it forward so we can all have a joyous holiday. We'll be giving away many more goodies here on the blog in the next month and my hope is that the joy you receive from winning (and seeing your fellow blog readers win) will encourage you to help others where you can - to pay it forward.

Even the little things make a difference. Hold the door open for someone, wish a stranger a happy holiday,  surprise the person in front of you in line by buying her coffee, donate a few extra canned goods to one of the many food drives happening this time of year.  There are so many ways to pay it forward now and all year long.

Maybe the winner of this giveaway will use part of the Harris Teeter gift card to purchase a few extra items to donate to the Harris Teeter Harvest Feast food drive taking place in stores now.

10th Annual Harris Teeter Harvest Feast

Through Friday, November 30, you can donate nonperishable food or money to your local food bank through Harris Teeter.  Simply donate food items at your local Harris Teeter store or purchase a $1, $5, or $20 Donation Card. All the items and monetary donations will be given to local food banks in your community.   Click HERE for more information.

Since the Harvest Feast started in 2003, shoppers have donated over one million dollars and hundreds of thousands of pounds of food to local food banks!

Gift card giveaway

One lucky winner will receive a $25 Harris Teeter gift card! To enter, leave a comment below with a "Joy it Forward" idea  - something you think you can do to pay it forward and put a smile on someone's face in the next week. I can't wait to see your ideas!

I'll randomly pick the winner (using random.org) on Tuesday, November 27 at 2:00 PM. Good luck and I hope you have a joyous Thanksgiving!

Thank you to Harris Teeter for generously donating the gift card!

Congratulations! I'll send you an e-mail shortly.

Reminder: You have until Friday at 1:00 pm to enter the Aldi gift card giveaway and we'll have a family friendly giveaway for you on Thursday!

Giving my son's used sensory toys to another family affected by Autism that may not be able to afford those things.

I love to give really good coupons away to people eating in the restaurant I'm in (like BOGOs from Citipass). It's always great to be a "coupon fairy." :o)

I like to buy extra cans of food or extra toys that are on a great sale and donate them to either Operation Christmas Child at my church or take things to the local shelters. I even have friends that have lost their jobs and I try to buy for their little ones who may not get a lot this year for Christmas.

We take the children shopping to let them pick out (and buy with money they have earned and is earmarked to 'give') items for a child who has nothing or very little. Seeing them be humbled about purchasing something as insignificant (to them) as a toothbrush, is priceless.

We had an extra coupon for a free kids meal, and I asked my daughter to give it to the family that had 3 chilren. They thanked us and said how nice it was for us to share with there family. We are all on a budget and every little bit helps.

Since we started couponing I have enjoyed being able to share my good deals with my family and friends. I put together gift baskets of items they woul be able to use...a $20-25 gift bag may actually be worth $50. Everyone has seemed to appreciate these gifts..almost as much as I enjoy giving them:)

I save aluminum tab tops for the American Legion who then sells them for the Ronald McDonald House. Christmas card fronts are given to the children at Merdock at Butner and they make items to resell for income. I save plastic bottle tops for use at another club, labels for education points & box top points are given to schools that collect them. These are small but helpful ways to help others on a daily basis and to remind me daily of how little things can go a long way. I enjoy opening doors for moms with strollers, elderly people and just saying "hi" or reaching a product on the top shelf or finding products that people are looking for. Since I am an avid coupon shopper I probably know the store as well as the employees. I would like to challenge the winner of the HT card to use coupons and double the groceries & then donate it to someone in need or the food bank. Thank you Harris Teeter for joying it forward !!

Joy it Forward by baking for that new mom or dad in your office. With a new one in the house baking bread, cakes or cookies is difficult.
