RALEIGH, N.C. — The owners behind popular Mexican fusion restaurant Jose and Sons in the Warehouse District are revealing more about their upcoming restaurant on Glenwood Avenue.
Charlie Ibarra, Hector Ibarra and executive chef Oscar Diaz plan to open The Cortez Seafood and Cocktail at 413 Glenwood Ave. next month. It will be located in the former home of Cafe Helios.

"We're excited to introduce a concept that we've been working on for over two years now. It took us some time to find the right space but we think the former Helios space and it's attractive patio in the heart of Glenwood are going to be a great match for Chef Oscar's imaginative take on fresh seafood and our bar program's focus on tropical cocktails and sparkling wines," Charlie Ibarra said Thursday. "We've been hard at work remodeling the space since we took it over in December and think folks will really enjoy the substantive changes we've made to make the interior a more restaurant-oriented layout and working space."

Ibarra said to expect "fresh, eclectic seafare and vibrant handcrafted cocktails that draw on our travels through the years, discovering new, unexpected flavors, and finding our own individual voice in the process."

Jose and Sons, which celebrates the Ibarra family's Mexican-Southern upbringing, has been open since 2013. The restaurant was previously known as Jibarra.
Cafe Helios was open for 12 years at 413 Glenwood Ave., before abruptly closing its doors in December 2014. The cafe reopened under new ownership in January 2016 but closed its doors for good in December.
