Join Team WRAL for SPCA Wake's K9-3K
Reporter Tara Lynn is once again heading up WRAL's team in the SPCA of Wake County's annual K9-3K, which will be held April 19 at Raleigh's Moore Square.
Posted — UpdatedDogs and their humans should arrive at 10 a.m., and paws will start pounding the pavement to raise money for homeless animals at 11 a.m. There will also be a shorter walk for older or short-snouted dogs.
The SPCA is partnering with City Market in 2014 to make the K9-3K an even bigger event. The daylong event covers two blocks.
It will feature kid-friendly activities, live music and food from City Market restaurants. More than 4,000 people and their pets are expected to attend.
“We are thrilled at this partnership,” Kim Janzen, SPCA Executive Director, said in a statement. “We’ve been celebrating the K9-3K Dog Walk downtown for years, and we can’t think of a better way to highlight our efforts to care for the animals in our community than to open the doors even wider to the downtown community.”
The SPCA of Wake County, which was founded in Raleigh in 1967, rehomes about 3,000 animals each year through its adoption programs.
