Raleigh, N.C. — The Komen Race for the Cure is coming up next month in Raleigh, and you can join Team WRAL for the race.
The race, held at Meredith College on Saturday, June 14, raises funds and awareness for breast cancer research, celebrates survivors and honors those who lost their lives to breast cancer.
The Komen Triangle Race for the Cure is special because the money raised locally is used to fund local agencies, helping local families battle breast cancer.
WRAL anchors Gerald Owens and Jackie Hyland along with meteorologist Mike Maze are the co-captains for Team WRAL. Anyone can join Team WRAL, and if you raise $25 by midnight on May 27 you will receive a Team WRAL performance "stay-cool" shirt.
Team WRAL is working on something really big for race day. You can be a part of it by using #KomenTri on all your social media posts, including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Vine.
Race for the Cure is more than just a run – race day includes a Zumba warm-up, a breakfast and tribute for survivors and a kid's dash.
This year's theme is "The Many Faces of Komen: Be One," which highlights local individuals who came together to support the world’s largest grassroots breast cancer organization.
