Johnston man killed in I-95 wreck

Posted April 13, 2011

— A Johnston County man died Tuesday in a single-vehicle wreck on Interstate 95 that also injured his brother and a third man, state troopers said.

Javier Flores Loredo, 52, of Four Oaks, was behind the wheel of a 1999 Chevrolet Tahoe when a tire blew out along I-95 south in Dunn, troopers said. Loredo lost control of the SUV, which went off the right side of the highway. He over-corrected, causing the SUV to overturn.

Loredo was pronounced dead at the scene.

His brother, Ricardo Flores Loredo, 50, of Coats, and Manuel Dejesus Aualos-Machado, 41, of Four Oaks, suffered minor injuries and were taken to Betsy Johnson Regional Hospital in Dunn.

How about you car pool and get some of the cars off the road?

I was in the backup for that wreck this morning.

I will mention that there was a second rollover wreck on the southbound side about a mile from the first one on the northbound side. Someone not paying attention and flying up on traffic stopped for the debris from the first accident.

70mph on the interstate is no place to be a 'passenger behind the wheel'. When driving a car, your focus must ALWAYS be on what is going on outside of your vehicle.

BTW... The northbound SUV hit the center guardrail hard enough that every one of the windows peeled out of their frames and landed all over the southbound lanes. Some of it as much as a 1/4 mile further up from where the truck came to a stop.

BTW, based on the number of times I see the same cars every day, there are more than a few of us commuting from Raleigh to Fayetteville. How about more timely traffic info from that direction?

Like I always say, it is much safer to drive in your designated lane of travel and not impact other vehicles when you drive!

I've seen people doing 70+ on I40 with one of those doughnut spares. BTW - those spare tires are only rated for 45MPH. Surprised there are not more serious wrecks due to tires worn to the cords and doughnut spares.
