Johnston County man accused of child sex offenses over six-year period

— A man in the Johnston County town of Wilson's Mills was arrested Tuesday in connection with sex offenses against a child that allegedly occurred over a six-year period.

Miguel B. Ramirez, 50, of 62 Rocks Edge Lane, was jailed under a $350,000 bond on a charge of sex offense with a child, according to Wilson's Mills Police Chief David Hess.

When the alleged crimes began, the child was 6 years old.

Police began investigating Ramirez in February 2013 and arrested him after receiving help from the Selma Police Department, Department of Child Protective Services, the State Bureau of Investigation and the Johnston County District Attorney's Office.

    why did it take over six years to gather enough evidence???!!! And now his bond is so low??? Ugh, this state and it's sex offender laws!

    That low bond is exactly why these degenerates KNOW they can commit these types of crimes and, literally, get away with it. A slap on the wrist, a fine, a small amount of jail time - and they're right back on the streets.

    This is sickening, why is his bail so low he should have no bail. I hate it for the child. I hope they will recover from this awful thing happening to them. I can't stand looking at a sick person like this.
