RALEIGH, N.C. — The City Council on Monday accepted a donation of about 20 acres of land in Johnston County.

The land, located along the Neuse River, was donated by Johnston Farms Ltd. The farm's owner, Bob Winston, he wanted to make sure the property bordering the river was placed under a conservation easement before he sold an adjacent 146 acres for development.

Raleigh officials agreed to accept the land after being assured the conservation easement wouldn't prevent the city from placing a paved greenway on the property or adding ballfields or restrooms later.
